Online Consultation

What does an online consultation look like?

I don’t diagnose specific conditions or provide medical advice. (You should see an appropriate medical professional for that.)

What I offer is assistance with common sense problem solving related to movement, such as dealing with low back pain or working to improve some physical function like running.

We will talk in detail about your history and future goals, and I will ask questions to understand your situation. I will answer any questions you have based on my research and experience. At the end of the consult, we will develop a plan that you can put into action, and then check in through e-mail or another consult if you like.

For example, if you have low back pain, I would want to know how long it has lasted, what makes it better or worse, what therapies you have tried, what activities you would like to return to, etc. You might be interested in getting information about what research has to say about the effect of posture on pain, whether pain is likely caused by tissue damage, or whether you need to correct your movement patterns to treat it. I would probably advise you that back pain is often complex and individual, and that research shows that MANY different interventions might be effective in reducing it. We would discuss the relative merits of each as they apply to your particular circumstances.
